Routes through Europe to Rome
Routes v2.2
The Via Francigena.

Santiago to Rome.

Assisi.

Via Degli Abati.

The advantage of following an already established route is that the infrastructure (such as way marking, places to eat/sleep, guidebooks etc) is likely to be already in place albeit with varying frequency and facilities.  If you are thinking of devising your own route, be advised that Britain, France & Switzerland all have very good series of maps but Italy is not so well documented.

We are mainly concerned with providing information about the Via Francigena although we are researching related pilgrimage routes such as those associated with St Francis (Assisi) - see opposite.  We will expand this section as time goes on.
