The Via Francigena

The Via Francigena follows the path taken by Sigeric  from Canterbury to Rome in 990.  It was declared a ‘Major Cultural Route’ in December 2004 by the Council of Europe.  This section of the website contains articles related to the Via Francigena and what it is like to walk it today.  All of these articles except “A short history of the Via Francigena.”, “The rebirth of the Via Francigena” and “Pilgrims to Rome today” were published in the CPR Newsletter so give an idea of our Newsletter contents.   Click on a link to download a PDF of the article.  To see an index of articles published in Newsletters 1 to 10, click here
